Alan W. Seadler Ph.D.

Edward V. Fritzky Chair in Biotechnology Leadership

 

Alan holds the Edward V. Fritzky Chair in Biotechnology Leadership and director for the Center for Biotechnology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

Dr. Seadler has had an extensive career in the Bio-Medical industry. Prior experiences include management positions at Ciba-Corning, Fisher Scientific, and Amersham Life Science. In addition Dr. Seadler has held senior management positions with several area startups including BDS and Visible Genetics.

He was most recently Chief Executive Officer for Crystalplex a start-up nanotechnology company. Prior to Crystalplex, Dr. Seadler was Chief Operating officer at Cellomics Inc., a drug discovery company, followed by a term as vice-president at the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse. During his tenure at the Greenhouse Alan was responsible for the inception of the Executive-in-residence program and the business incubator.

Dr. Seadler maintains a strong interest in Entrepreneurship particularly as it relates to start-up companies in nanotechnology and the life sciences. He also continues his efforts to support training in regulatory compliance particularly as applied to manufacturing organizations.

Alan holds a Ph.D. in Biology from Case Western Reserve University.
