Beijing is located in northern China, close to Tianjin Municipality and partially surrounded by Hebei Province.  The city covers an area of more than 16,800 square kilometers and has a population of 13.82 million people.

As the Capital of the People’s Republic of China, Beijing is the nation’s political, economic, cultural and education center as well as being China’s most important center for international trade and communications. 

It has been the heart and soul of politics and society throughout its long history and consequently there is an unparalleled wealth of discovery to delight and intrigue travelers as they explore Beijing’s ancient past and enjoy its exciting modern development.

 

Beijing Jiaotong University – School of Civil Engineering

The department of Municipal and Environmental Engineering is one of the main teaching and scientific research units of the school of civil engineering.  It is a full-time school charged with basic theories and application researches, teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science and Municipal Engineering. 

Research Programs
The department of Municipal and Environmental Engineering takes on many scientific research projects including projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China.  Research aspects include: Theory and Technology of Nitrogen and Phosphorus removal; Research of Membrane Treatment in Recycling Wastewater; Technology of Treatment for Leaching Liquid of Landfills.
