Applications are processed and reviewed on a rolling basis. Applications will be accepted up to one month
before the start of classes. (Exception: International students must follow the above deadlines.)

MS-ESM Program
A complete application package includes:
- The application form completed in full. You can download and print the Application OR
complete an Online Application.
- A Statement of Purpose is required. It should be approximately 250 words, describing your goals and objectives for enrolling in this program.
- Three letters of recommendation (can come separately)
- GRE scores (can come separately)
- Original undergraduate transcripts (must include date degree was conferred)
- $40 check or money order (payable to Duquesne University)
While you are not required to have an undergraduate science degree, you are required to have the following pre-requisite courses for regular acceptance into the program:
- General Biology I
- General Biology II
- General Chemistry I
- General Chemistry II
- Calculus and/or Statistics
- Environmental Science/Studies
If you lack these pre-requisites, you may still be accepted into the program as a provisional student, but will be required to complete the courses before becoming a regular student.
Certificate Programs
A complete application package includes:
- The application form completed in full. You can download and print the Application OR complete an Online Application.
- A Statement of Purpose is required. It should be approximately 250 words, describing your goals and objectives for enrolling in this program.
- Three letters of recommendation (can come separately)
- Original undergraduate transcripts (must include date degree was conferred)
- $20 check or money order (payable to Duquesne University)
While applicants to the Environmental Science Certificate are not required to have an undergraduate science degree, they are required to have the following pre-requisite courses for regular acceptance into the program:
- General Biology I
- General Biology II
- General Chemistry I
- General Chemistry II
- Calculus and/or Statistics
- Environmental Science/Studies
Environmental Management applicants are not required to have completed any of the above pre-requisites.
International Students
A complete application package includes:
- The application form completed in full. You can download and print the Application OR
complete an Online Application.
- A Statement of Purpose is required. It should be approximately 250 words, describing your goals and objectives for enrolling in this program.
- Three letters of recommendation (can come separately).
- GRE scores (can come separately).
- Official transcripts in English of all undergraduate and any graduate studies completed. Ask the registrar(s) of your undergraduate and graduate colleges or universities to send the transcript to the above address.
- Official Internet-based TOEFL scores that are current to one year.
- Duquesne University Affidavit of Support Form completed in full and an official bank statement. The affidavit of support form is a legal document that a student’s sponsor must complete and have notarized and certified. The bank statement must be from the sponsor and show at least one full year of costs. Estimates of costs for the academic year are available from the Office of International Programs.
- 40 USD check or money order (payable to Duquesne University).
- Before classes begin, International students and any non-native speakers of the English language (including Lawful Permanent Residents) will be required to take the Speaking Proficiency English Assessment Kit (SPEAK) test. On occasion students with exceptionally high speaking portions of the TOEFL may be waived from the SPEAK test.

Assistantship
Deadlines
A limited number of assistantship
positions are available for full-time students.
Awards cover partial tuition. Applicants interested
in assistantships must apply by the deadlines at the top of the page. |
