Joseph Scalamogna

Mr. Scalamogna has a B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh, M.S. from Duquesne University, is a West Virginia Licensed Remediation Specialist, and a registered Professional Geologist in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida. He is currently senior project manager with the local office of Delta Environmental Consultants with more than 20 years of professional experience and has assisted numerous clients in the resolution of environmental issues. Mr. Scalamogna has also acted as a consultant with regard to compliance and waste minimization issues related to daily and long-term plant operations. He has served as the project manager of hydrogeological investigations and remediation activities pertaining to Pennsylvania's Land Recycling Act (Act 2), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA); landfill permit applications; voluntary cleanups; emergency response; environmental site assessments of commercial, industrial, and undeveloped properties; and corrective action measures.  Mr. Scalamogna has also dealt with mixed waste and has been involved with remediation activities at three of the U.S. NRC's SDMP sites.  He has also acted as a presenter at several of the U.S. NRC's public meetings in Rockville, Maryland.  Mr. Scalamogna has been responsible for the installation of hundreds of monitoring wells, aquifer testing, and computerized groundwater modeling.  He is technically proficient in using surface and downhole geophysical methods in hydrogeologic applications and in numerical modeling to evaluate groundwater flow and solute transport. He also has experience as a mining geologist and has been responsible for the field supervision of major exploratory drilling programs involving extensive coring, geophysical logging, and groundwater sampling.
