As part of the Undergraduate Research Program, students participate in organized community service activities. Click on the above links for a detailed description and images of past activities.

Organized Individual Projects

  • Work with the ASSET program to teach children about the science by assembling and packaging modules for elementary students to use in science classrooms throughout western PA. For more information call 412-771-2121
  • Work on the RiverQuest boat teaching children about water, animals, and environmental issues. Open to Biology, Microbiology, or Environmental Science students. May require an extended commitment. For more information, call 412-231-2847
  • Help with the Egypt Exibit at the Carnegie Science Center. Students help with public activities at the exhibit about Egypt in conjunction with an OmniMax film. This project requires an extended commitment of 24-28 hours. For more information call 412-231-2712.
  • Help with the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair by mentoring students, planning the event, or many other projects.
  • Create your own project such as working with high school students in the Junior Academy of Science or on a Science Fair Project. If you find something that appeals to you more, organize it, carry it out and document it.
