Organized Individual Projects through the new Service Learning Program

Carnegie Science Center

  • Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair: Help with the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair by mentoring students, planning the event, and many other projects. The Fair is an open competition of research projects in the fields of science, mathematics, and engineering will be featured by local students. Duquesne University faculty, staff, and students volunteer prior to and during the Science and Engineering Fair. This competition is free to all students in grades 6-12 in public and non-public schools throughout 24 counties within Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The students present their research via a presentation board and interview.
  • SciTech: Pittsburgh International Science and Technology Festival is a celebration of innovation and creativity that brings together acadamia, industry, community organizations and the public in Western Pennsylvania. Duquesne University is a Silver Sponsor and faculty, staff, and students participate in exhibits, presentations, and panel discussions.

RiverQuest

  • RiverQuest is a nonprofit educational organization which provides innovative, river-themed programs for young and old alike. Work on the boat teaching children about water, animals, and environmental issues. Open to Biology or Environmental Science students. This program may require an extended commitment. Create Your Own Project through the New Service Learning Program

  • Create your own project such as working with high school students in the Junior Academy of Science or on a Science Fair Project. If you find something that appeals to you more, organize it, carry it out and document it.
