Summer Research Symposium
The Summer Research Symposium
is a celebration of undergraduate research in
the greater Pittsburgh area. Undergraduate students,
graduate students, and faculty come together to
exhibit posters and presentations on scientific
research. The program will begin with a continental
breakfast at 9:00 AM. Richard J. Lee. Ph.D.,
President of R. J. Lee Group, Inc.
will present the keynote address. A plenary session,
including eight oral presentations by students,
follows the address. A picnic lunch, provided
by the Bayer School of Natural and Environmental
Sciences, will be served at 1:00 PM. The poster
session will begin immediately after lunch. You

Picnic:
Participants
planning to attend the picnic lunch must R.S.V.P.
by Thursday, July 16. Lunch is free of charge
to all participants and guests. It is not necessary
to present a poster or oral presentation in order
to attend the picnic lunch. Please R.S.V.P. by
returning the enclosed form or sending an email
to urp@duq.edu
Posters and
Abstracts:
Poster
abstracts must be received by Wednesday, July 14.
Abstracts must either be emailed to urp@duq.edu
or returned on a disc with the enclosed form.
If abstracts are returned on disc, they should
be in Microsoft Word. All abstracts should include
the following information: title, author(s), location
of research, and the abstract. Abstracts must
be no longer than 150 words in length. The enclosed
submission form may be photocopied as needed.
Posters
must fit in a 4' x 4' space. All posters must
be in place by 1:30 PM. Students with even numbered
poster assignments must be present at posters
from 2 - 3:00 PM to answer any questions. Students
with odd numbered posters must be present from
3 - 4:00 PM. This will allow all students time
to view other posters and ask questions.
Plenary Session:
Authors
of eight outstanding abstracts will be selected
to participate in the plenary session. Presentations
will be 15 minutes each. Power Point presentation
can be brought on a disk for computer presentation.
Slide and overhead projectors will also be available.

session, please indicate this on the web form
