2004 Summer Research Symposium

The Summer Research Symposium is a celebration of undergraduate research in the greater Pittsburgh area. Undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty come together to exhibit posters and presentations on scientific research. The program will begin with a continental breakfast at 9:00 AM. Richard J. Lee. Ph.D., President of R. J. Lee Group, Inc. will present the keynote address. A plenary session, including eight oral presentations by students, follows the address. A picnic lunch, provided by the Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences, will be served at 1:00 PM. The poster session will begin immediately after lunch. You can view all the abstracts and a list of the plenary session speakers with titles.

Submit an abstract, R.S.V.P. for the picnic, check your poster location assignment, view the plenary session schedule or read the abstracts on-line.

Poster Session

Picnic:

Participants planning to attend the picnic lunch must R.S.V.P. by Thursday, July 16. Lunch is free of charge to all participants and guests. It is not necessary to present a poster or oral presentation in order to attend the picnic lunch. Please R.S.V.P. by returning the enclosed form or sending an email to urp@duq.edu  

Posters and Abstracts:

Poster abstracts must be received by Wednesday, July 14. Abstracts must either be emailed to urp@duq.edu or returned on a disc with the enclosed form. If abstracts are returned on disc, they should be in Microsoft Word. All abstracts should include the following information: title, author(s), location of research, and the abstract. Abstracts must be no longer than 150 words in length. The enclosed submission form may be photocopied as needed.

Posters must fit in a 4' x 4' space. All posters must be in place by 1:30 PM. Students with even numbered poster assignments must be present at posters from 2 - 3:00 PM to answer any questions. Students with odd numbered posters must be present from 3 - 4:00 PM. This will allow all students time to view other posters and ask questions.

Plenary Session:

Authors of eight outstanding abstracts will be selected to participate in the plenary session. Presentations will be 15 minutes each. Power Point presentation can be brought on a disk for computer presentation. Slide and overhead projectors will also be available. If you do not wish to be considered for the plenary session, please indicate this on the web form or the enclosed form.

Parking is available in the Forbes Street Garage at Duquesne University.
